What electrical and renewable energy services does OJF Electrical and Renewables Ltd offer?
We provide solar panel installation, solar battery storage, EV charger installation, and general and commercial electrical work, including rewires and fuseboard replacement. Whether you’re switching to solar, adding an EV charger, or need a qualified electrician for general work, our team handles the job from initial survey through to certification.
Are your electricians fully qualified and accredited?
Yes. As a local electrical team, all our engineers have completed solar and battery storage training alongside their core electrical qualifications, and the company is NAPIT registered and certified by RECC (Renewable Energy Consumer Code) and MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme).
How much does solar panel installation cost?
The cost depends on your roof size, the number of panels you need, and the types of panels and inverter you choose. As solar PV installers who tailor each system rather than selling a fixed “package,” we confirm the full cost with you before any work begins.
How long does solar panel installation take?
The duration for installing a solar panel varies based on the system’s size and complexity. We will verify the estimated timeframe before starting the work.
How much can solar panels save me on my electricity bill?
Your potential savings vary based on the size of your solar panel system, whether you include battery storage, and your electricity usage patterns.
What is battery storage and do I need it?
Solar panels generate the most electricity around midday, usually when a property is using the least—since everyone is at work or school. Installing a solar battery lets you store this surplus energy for later use during the day, rather than sending it back to the grid. If you have an electric car, the stored energy can also be used to charge it or heat your water.
Can battery storage be added to an existing solar PV system?
In most cases, yes, solar panel battery installation can usually be retrofitted onto an existing solar panel system. If your current inverter is a “string” inverter, you may need to upgrade it, or add equipment to allow battery storage. We’ll check compatibility as part of your survey.
How much does home EV charger installation cost?
The cost of a home EV charger installation depends on the charger selected, the cable run length and the condition of your fuseboard. We’ll confirm a fixed quote after a short survey, covering installation, notification of the distribution network operator (DNO), testing and certification.
How long does EV charger installation take?
As experienced EV charger installers, we typically complete a standard home installation, including installation and commissioning, within a single day. A 7 kW single-phase charger, the most common option, typically charges a car fully in 6–12 hours; a three-phase 22 kW charger, where the property’s supply allows it, can charge a car in as little as 1–3 hours.
Can you install EV chargers for businesses as well as homes?
Yes. We install workplace and commercial EV charging as well as home EV chargers. Where a business, charity or public sector organisation is eligible, we’ll also guide you through the Workplace Charging Scheme, a UK Government grant that helps reduce the cost of installing charge points.
How do I know if my property needs rewiring?
Common signs include frequent tripping or overheating, aged rubber, fabric, or aluminium wiring, and the absence of earth on lighting or sockets. Inspect the existing wiring to decide if rewiring is necessary. We will evaluate it and recommend whether a full or partial rewire is appropriate.
How long does a full rewire take?
The duration of a domestic or commercial rewire varies based on the size and complexity of the project. We will specify the estimated timeline after evaluating the property.
How do I know if my fuseboard needs replacing?
If your fuseboard is outdated, it may no longer offer adequate protection against electric shock, fire or electrical faults, as older consumer units often lack the safety devices needed to disconnect power instantly if something goes wrong. We’ll carry out a full EICR to check your existing wiring first, then complete fuseboard installation with a modern RCBO consumer unit and surge protection.
Is all your work tested and certified on completion?
Yes. Each installation, solar, battery, EV, rewiring, or new fuseboard, is thoroughly tested and officially approved, with the appropriate certification, such as an electrical installation certificate and, if applicable, a building regulation compliance certificate, issued digitally upon completion.
