SOLAR PANEL CASE STUDY
Solar panel installation FAQ
How do Solar panels work?
Solar panels absorb sunlight with photovoltaic cells, generating direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter converts this to alternating current (AC) for use in your home, In Simple terms changes it from energy you can't use in your house to energy you can use! - Take a look at the video above to get a more in-depth view of a solar and battery install
Do Solar panels work during cloudy weather?
Yes! Solar panels can still generate electricity on cloudy days, As we know in the UK we are used to cloudy days but you can still generate a decent amount of energy though at reduced efficiency compared to sunny days.
How long do Solar panels last?
Most Solar panels are warrantied for 25 - 30 years, but can often last longer gradually decreasing efficiency.
Can I store excess Solar energy?
If you are sending more excess power back to the grid, you may consider installing a solar storage battery to your new or, already existing install. This allows you to charge the battery during the day and discharge it during the night when you are most likely to use more electricity from the grid. These can be a really good investments when it comes to reducing your energy bills.
How long does an installation take?
Installations of course differ from client to client. But a standard install takes between 1-3 days
Are we qualified to install these?
Yes, all our engineers have undertaken solar and battery storage training to gain their qualifications. OJF are also part of RECC (Renewables Energy Consumer Code) and are MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certified.
What system should I have installed?
Upon contacting OJF we will visit your property or set up a call to get as much information as we can. We will then tailor an install specifically for you instead of selling you a 'package' deal which won't best suit your needs
Do you offer finance?
Yes, OJF offers finance on solar and battery storage systems only
Why do I need a site survey?
We carry out a PV site survey to gain as much information to tailor a system best suited to you and your family. We like to make the experience as hassle-free as we can due to this we also offer Zoom calls (if being at home is an issue). The survey will take no longer than 1 hour
